"No More Mr. Nice Guy!"

The term "Nice Guy," coined by therapist Dr. Robert Glover, describes a man who feels he isn't good enough on his own. He believes he must constantly change himself to be what others want, hoping to be liked, loved, and have his needs met. This also involves hiding parts of himself that might be met with disapproval.

This inauthentic, chameleon-like way of living often leaves these men feeling frustrated, confused, and resentful—making them, in the end, anything but nice.

In This Seminar We Will Cover:

The Nice Guy
Syndrome

We'll discuss how this relational style is rooted in seeking approval, hiding flaws, and avoiding conflict to feel safe. “Nice guys” often feel unlovable and use people-pleasing to cope.

Breaking Free from the Nice Guy Pattern

In this section of the course, we'll consider ways to prioritize putting personal needs first and facing our fears. This will include a discussion on how nice guys avoid conflict to feel safe even though it traps them.

Building Confidence and Authenticity

Nice guys often hide their true selves. This section will include a 30-minute exercise called “Truth Telling.” Each person will share something they’ve hidden from someone close—like a frustration or desire—in small groups.

Creating Healthier Relationships

Finally, we'll discuss ways nice guys can form equal, honest partnerships by setting boundaries and expressing needs. We'll create a “relationship contract”, listing three non-negotiable needs in their relationships.
